International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative(IDDSI)

International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI Framework) is divided into eight consecutive grades, represented by 0↔︎7 grades, and each grade is distinguished by numbers, text descriptions and colors.

Among them, 0↔︎4 represents beverages (positive triangle), and 3↔︎7 represents food (inverted triangle). The standard also specifies simple, test methods that do not require complex equipment to determine the grade of a food or drink. This standard allows medical staff, speech therapists, providers, caregivers and patients to accurately communicate and prepare the right firmness and consistency for the patient.

This standard is established by the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI). They are active in developing globally accepted definitions of food texture and liquid consistency for people with dysphagia, so that people with dysphagia of different ages, care settings and cultures can be properly cared for.

Senior Deli products are labelled according to the Dysphagia Diet Standard, clearly stating the grades for which each product is applicable.

The text descriptions, colors, and numbers in the IDDSI differentiate the levels,
such as 0-4 representing beverages (positive triangle) and 3-7 representing food (inverted triangle).
