SeniorDeli Applies for HKEX Impact Funding: AI 照護食 Adoption Assistant
SeniorDeli has submitted a formal application to the HKEX Impact Funding programme for a HK$1.8 million grant to develop an AI-powered care food adoption platform — the "AI 照護食 Adoption Assistant" — targeting care homes, hospitals, and foreign domestic helpers across Hong Kong.
What Is the HKEX Impact Funding?
The HKEX Impact Funding is a grant programme administered by Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited that supports projects delivering measurable social impact across healthcare, education, community development, and environmental sustainability in Hong Kong.
Our grant application positions SeniorDeli as the leading AI-driven infrastructure for care food adoption in Hong Kong — bridging the gap between clinical knowledge about dysphagia and real-world practice at the point of care.
The Problem We Are Solving
Dysphagia affects more than 50% of elderly residents in Hong Kong's care homes, yet adoption of properly texture-modified care food remains low. Key barriers include:
- Lack of awareness among untrained caregivers, including the 150,000+ foreign domestic helpers who provide home-based elderly care - Absence of standardised assessment tools accessible outside clinical settings - No systematic measurement of care food adoption rates across Hong Kong's care ecosystem
SeniorDeli's AI Adoption Assistant addresses all three barriers simultaneously.
What the AI 照護食 Adoption Assistant Does
The platform comprises three integrated modules:
Assessment Module: A conversational AI tool that helps caregivers, nurses, and care home staff screen for dysphagia risk and identify the appropriate IDDSI texture level for each resident — without requiring a speech therapist present for every assessment.
Education Module: Multilingual training content in Cantonese, Mandarin, English, Tagalog, and Indonesian, delivered via mobile-friendly formats optimised for domestic helpers and front-line care workers.
Adoption Tracking Module: An anonymised data dashboard that tracks care food adoption rates across participating care homes — generating the HK Care Food Adoption Index, Hong Kong's first systematic benchmark for care food uptake.
Impact Measurement Framework
SeniorDeli's grant application commits to measurable outcomes over a 24-month project period:
- Increase RCHE care food adoption rate from 23% baseline to 40%+ - Train 5,000+ caregivers and domestic helpers - Achieve 31% carer certification rate in IDDSI-aligned care food preparation - Raise FDH dysphagia awareness from 8% baseline to 25%+ - Publish quarterly HK Care Food Adoption Index reports
Why This Grant Matters
The HKEX Impact Funding would accelerate the development of infrastructure that no single care home, hospital, or supplier can build alone — a shared AI platform that raises the standard of care food practice across Hong Kong's entire elderly care ecosystem.
The grant application deadline is 26 May 2026. We will publish an update when results are announced.
