softmeal.org: Our Open Research Platform for Dysphagia Nutrition

softmeal.org is SeniorDeli's open research platform, publishing peer-reviewed dysphagia nutrition guidelines, IDDSI implementation tools, and supporting methodology for the HK Care Food Adoption Index — all under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) licence.

Why an Open Platform?

SeniorDeli's commercial mission is to improve dysphagia care in Hong Kong and Greater China through better products and education. But we recognise that no single company can move the standard of care at scale by itself. The clinical frameworks, evidence base, and measurement tools that define what good care food practice looks like need to be public goods — accessible to every care home, hospital, speech therapist, dietitian, and caregiver in Hong Kong, not locked behind a commercial paywall.

softmeal.org is our commitment to that principle. Everything published on the platform is freely available for use, adaptation, and redistribution with attribution.

What softmeal.org Publishes

IDDSI Implementation Guides: Practical guides for care home kitchens, hospital catering teams, and domestic helpers explaining how to implement IDDSI texture levels in real-world settings. These include preparation guides, equipment recommendations, and photo-illustrated texture check protocols.

Dysphagia Nutrition Guidelines: Evidence-based summaries of nutritional requirements for people with dysphagia at different IDDSI levels, translated into Cantonese, Mandarin, English, Tagalog, and Indonesian.

HK Care Food Adoption Index Methodology: Full methodology documentation for the HKCFAI — including survey instruments, sampling approach, weighting methodology, and statistical analysis protocols. This enables independent verification and replication of the Index.

Clinical Reference Documents: Summaries of key clinical literature on dysphagia prevalence, management, and care food outcomes relevant to the Hong Kong context.

T/SATA 094-2025 Implementation Notes: Guidance for care homes and food manufacturers on implementing T/SATA 094-2025 requirements, including texture-level test protocols and labelling compliance guides.
